If getting inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame could be called winning the tournament of tournaments, then this news qualifies as PokerStars Tournament News big time, because the site has named its choice of nominee for the 2009 induction: Tom McEvoy.
This is the same Tom McEvoy who just beat out the toughest playing field perhaps in poker history, the Poker Champions Invitational held at the 2009 WSOP in honor of the 40th Anniversary of the World Series of Poker in which the only players allowed entry were prior winners of the WSOP Main Event. Tom McEvoy won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 1994. And he won the Champions of Poker Invitational, against such greats as Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth as well as the several main event winners who won their ticket into the event free through satelliting at PokerStars: Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem, and the 2008 Main Event winner Peter Eastgate (who at 22 y.o. unseated Phil Hellmuth from his longstanding record of being the youngest WSOP Main Event winner in history).

It’s not too late to win yourself a free seat in the Main Event of the 2009 World Series of Poker. Ultimate Bet Poker is holding a 50 Package Satellite tournament on June 21st awarding no less than – yes – 50 $13,000 prize packages that include a free main event seat (along with registration fees, 7-nights accommodations, and some spending money). The buy-in for this satellite is $500 + $35, but UB is holding qualifiers daily running now all the way up through the tournament.
There’s one other bonus added to the pot in this and all UB promotions for the 2009 WSOP–a $10 million bonus added to the Main Event grand prize if the winner of the Main Event represents Ultimate Bet throughout the tournament. This makes anyone winning a UB WSOP prize package eligible, as well as anyone competing in the Main Event who wishes to sign up and wear the appropriate UB gear throughout the competition.

Hollywood Poker Bubble Insurance Gives WSOP Assurance
Hollywood Poker has announced that it will provide something called Bubble Insurance Coverge to its players at the 2009 World Series of Poker, By “its players” we mean to say those players who won their seat in the 2009 WSOP through a satellite or qualifier on HollywoodPoker.com. By Bubble Insurance Coverage we mean that to every HollywoodPoker player who winds up on the bubble in this year’s WSOP Main Event, the site will purchase a buy-in to the Main Event at the 2010 WSOP.
For those who don’t know, “on the bubble” means placing in one of the top 5 spots in the final table. It’s not an easy feat to achieve, but the HollywoodPoker bonus makes it all the more enticing, as the buy-in to the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event is priced at $10,000. This on top of whatever money these “on the bubble” finishers win from the WSOP itself for their accomplishment.
As for those satellites and qualifiers into the 2009 WSOP Main Event in the first place – Hollywood Poker is running them now, promising to give away at least 22 Celebrity Class All-Inclusive Main Event Packages, worth $17,000 each.

Jamie Gold, winner of the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, has just been signed by AcedPoker (at Aced.com) as the site’s latest celebrity poker pro endorser.
Gold, who prior to winning the big prize in the 2006 WSOP was a successful Hollywood talent agent and producer, signed a multi-year contract with Aced.com. The reported deal, somewhere in the range of $2 million, includes buy-ins at many of the most prestigious live poker tournaments around the world. Rumor has it that this is the most lucrative endorsement contract between a poker pro and online poker room in the history of internet poker.
Sponsoring Gold was a big move for little-known Aced Poker, who has only been hosting live poker tournaments since last September as is one of the flagship sites of the up-and-coming Merge Network. Gold has been patiently waiting for just the right sponsorship opportunity to come around, turning down numerous endorsement offers since winning the $12 million top prize in the 2006 WSOP main event and, shortly thereafter, parting with former sponsor Bodog.

PokerStars constantly offers satellite tournaments into larger land-based and online poker events. When you win entry into one such big table events via a PokerStars satellite, you have the option of un-registering from that event, and instead receive something called Tournament Dollars (or T$) deposited into your account.
T$ can be used at any later date to register yourself into any PokerStars tournament or combination thereof. That includes Sit & Go tournaments, special events, and other satellite tournaments too!
You can even enter multiple satellites for the same event and, should you win more than one free seat, have your extra tickets automatically converted into T$ and creditted to your account for later use elsewhere, in some other exciting PokerStars tournament.
Now here are the exceptions:
• T$ cannot be used in cash ring games
• T$ are not awarded in W$ events
Which brings us to W$.
W$ can only be used to register you into qualifying special poker events, such as (but not limited to):
• PokerStars Caribbean Adventure
• World Series of Poker
• PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker
• Asia-Pacific Poker Tour
W$ operate similarly to T$ except:
• W$ and T$ are not interchangeable
• When you win a seat into a W$ event, you must play in that event
• W$ are only creditted to your account for later use if you win multiple entries into the same event or if you win a seat into a satellite for a W$ event and choose to un-reguster from the satellite
