PokerStars Launches Italian Poker Tour with IPT San Remo

On Thursday, May 28, Poker Stars announced the start of a new major land-based poker series it would be sponsoring, the Italian Poker Tour. In collaboration with Luca Pagano, a member of Team PokerStars and major player commonly seen at the final tables of many European Poker Tour events, Poker Stars

What this means for amateur poker players like ourselves is that Poker Stars will now start offering low-cost satellite tournaments (€5 or 100 Frequent Player Points, or FPPs) awarding free entry into larger satellites in which the ultimate top prize is free entry into the various IPT events.

The inaugural event in this new series, known as the IPT for short, kicked off June 1 in San Remo. Not to be confused with the popular fledgling EPT San Remo event that PokerStars only just introduced into the European Poker Tour last year, Season 4, IPT San Remo is still underway. The winner of this first Italian Poker Tour event, won’t be discovered for another few days yet – as it’s a 6-day event – but one thing is for sure. Whoever it is, their name will surely go down in PokerStars history.

2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Satellites Underway

Satellites are now underway for the 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

PokerStars is running both cash qualifiers and FPP qualifiers, so whether you’ve got the money or the comp points, as long as you have the inclination (and the desire to fly to the tropical and exotic Caribbean to participate in an official European Poker Tour event).

The 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure prize package includes not only a buy-in into the Main Event but hotel accommodations and expense money too. The total prize package is worth $14,300.

In addition to the regular FPP and cash qualifiers awarding entry into the 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, PokerStars is also hosting what it calls “Steps Sit & Go” satellites, costing as little as $7.50 in cash or 500 in FPP credits to enter.

The Steps satellite series consists of 6 stages (or “steps”); 6 tournaments that players can buy into directly or win their way into by winning the step previous. Win the 6th step and win your $14,300 PCA prize package. Lose at any step, and you can still try again at the same step or the one below.
