The winner of the 2009 PokerStars EPT Warsaw main event is Cristophe Benzimra, a businessman from France (he operates a Plexiglass factory in Romania). His prize was 358,644 Euros. Stating after his win that he feels he just got lucky and really only plays poker for fun, Benzimra bested a field of 400 players, finishing the tournament by beating poker pro, Alfio Battista of Italy, who had to settle for runner-up.
Benzimra self-description may be too modest when you consider that he has attended most of the PokerStars European Poker Tour events in the past 2 years. He cashed for $26,110 by taking 6th place at last year’s EPT Budapest and $18,604 for taking 17th at this year’s Rendez vous a Paris Spotlight No Limit Holdem Championship.
Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano, meanwhile, made his 5th EPT final table and 12th EPT cash at this event.

It’s time once again to head over to Poker Stars and try and win yourself a seat in one of online poker’s most popular sponsored land-based tournaments, the European Poker Tour Caribbean Adventure. The 2010 PCA, as it’s fondly known for short, runs January 4 – 15, 2010.
The 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is made up of fifty different poker events, including the World Cup of Poker, a popular high-roller’s event (won last year by the young poker upstart known as ElkY), two Battleship events (one Head-Up and one Multi-Table), a Mixed 8-Game Championship, and more.
Satellites into the PokerStars 2010 EPT Caribbean Adventure are happening right now and running through the end of the year. Buy-ins start at 111 FFPs and $2.22 and go up to 500 FPPs and $7.50. PokerStars also has live qualifiers intot the 2010 PCA Main Event taking place at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino in the lovely Bahamas during the Jan 4-15 period, however most at-home players will probably want to secure their seat long beforeNew Year’s.

Poker Stars has just released the schedule for the sixth season of the PokerStars European Poker Tour. In terms of total prize pool distributed, this is promised to be the richest European Poker Tour yet. EPT Season 6 will debut on August 17 in Moscow, Russia.
Of course PokerStars will be running satellites throughout the season, awarding many of its players the chance of a lifetime, to stay in an exotic international locale and compete in a live poker tournament with a multi-million dollar prize pool. Stay tuned here and to PokerStars for more details on these golden opportunities.
EPT Season 5 set some pretty high benchmarks for EPT Season 6 to follow, with many record setting prize pools and player fields. At the EPT Season 5 Monte Carlo Grand Final, for example, the prize pool reached an unprecedented $9.3 million. That event, by the way (and in case you didn’t see it) was won by Pieter De Korve. His prize: $2.3 million.

On Thursday, May 28, Poker Stars announced the start of a new major land-based poker series it would be sponsoring, the Italian Poker Tour. In collaboration with Luca Pagano, a member of Team PokerStars and major player commonly seen at the final tables of many European Poker Tour events, Poker Stars
What this means for amateur poker players like ourselves is that Poker Stars will now start offering low-cost satellite tournaments (€5 or 100 Frequent Player Points, or FPPs) awarding free entry into larger satellites in which the ultimate top prize is free entry into the various IPT events.
The inaugural event in this new series, known as the IPT for short, kicked off June 1 in San Remo. Not to be confused with the popular fledgling EPT San Remo event that PokerStars only just introduced into the European Poker Tour last year, Season 4, IPT San Remo is still underway. The winner of this first Italian Poker Tour event, won’t be discovered for another few days yet – as it’s a 6-day event – but one thing is for sure. Whoever it is, their name will surely go down in PokerStars history.

PokerStars has signed on to sponsor Season 7 of the World Poker Tour.
This will give Poker Stars even wider worldwide attention than it’s already received (arguably ever since then-amateur PokerStars player Chris Moneymaker took down the top prize at the 2003 World Series of Poker, proving that anyone really can win), as the sponsorship deal includes all televised WPT Season VII tournaments in Europe (including Germany and Italy) and the U.S., Canada, and the Netherlands.
This also means that, at least in terms of all WPT coverage in the U.S., Full Tilt Poker is out and Poker Stars is in. This is a big deal considering that these two leading poker sites have been neck-and-neck in a near heads-up battle for top position seemingly since their inceptions.
It seems PokerStars and the World Poker Tour will be working very closely to expand both companies’ reach, starting with a Spanish-language and Portuguese-language televised broadcasts for localized events in Latin America, including native commentators.
PokerStars is also the major sponsor of the European Poker Tour, and Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).

Satellites are now underway for the 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
PokerStars is running both cash qualifiers and FPP qualifiers, so whether you’ve got the money or the comp points, as long as you have the inclination (and the desire to fly to the tropical and exotic Caribbean to participate in an official European Poker Tour event).
The 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure prize package includes not only a buy-in into the Main Event but hotel accommodations and expense money too. The total prize package is worth $14,300.
In addition to the regular FPP and cash qualifiers awarding entry into the 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, PokerStars is also hosting what it calls “Steps Sit & Go” satellites, costing as little as $7.50 in cash or 500 in FPP credits to enter.
The Steps satellite series consists of 6 stages (or “steps”); 6 tournaments that players can buy into directly or win their way into by winning the step previous. Win the 6th step and win your $14,300 PCA prize package. Lose at any step, and you can still try again at the same step or the one below.
